About Angela
I am a Southside native, raised in East Phillips and currently residing in the historic Bryant Neighborhood. I share my home with 3 of my 4 children and our cats Barnabas, Jake and Hopper and dogs Steve and Eddie. My family and I love road tripping every summer to the North Shore, movie nights, card and board games and s’mores.
In the last few years I’ve been appointed to several leadership positions at the national level. I am currently serving a second term as Chairwoman of the Community, Economic and Workforce Development committee of the National Association of Counties (NACo). In addition to this role, I was appointed by the president of NACo to serve on the national Healthy Counties Intiative for my transformative work in Heart Health. State-wide, I am an appointee to the General Government Committee and Housing Sub-Committee of the Association of Minnesota Counties. In 2025 I received the B. Robert Lewis Award from the Minnesota Public Health Association for my investment in heart disease prevention. As your Commissioner, I chair the County Board’s Health Committee, the Housing and Redevelopment Authority and co-chair our Intergovernmental Relations Committee and Heading Home Hennepin.
My passion is servant leadership which comes from a background in Social Work and a love for the community. I have dedicated my career to uplifting the dignity and worth of all of us with care and compassion. It is my belief that we have a duty to ensure that we all have equal access to participation in all parts of our society and that true power resides with the people.
