About Angela

I am a Southside native, raised in East Phillips and currently residing in the historic Bryant Neighborhood. I share my home with 3 of my 4 children and our cats Barnabas, Jake and Hopper. My family and I love road tripping every summer to the North Shore, movie nights, card and board games and s’mores.

In the last few years I’ve been appointed to several leadership positions at the national level. I serve as Vice-Chair of the Community, Economic and Workforce Development committee of the National Association of Counties (NACo). In addition to this role, I was appointed by the president of NACo to serve as Vice-Chair to the Large Urban County Caucus. I was also voted to be the 2nd Vice President of The National Association of Black County Officials. State-wide, I am an appointee to the Health and Human Services Committee of the Association of Minnesota Counties and was named one of the Minnesota 500 2021 honorees which is a list of the most powerful business leaders in the state. As your Commissioner, I chair the County Board’s Health and Human Services Committee, the Child Well-Being Advisory Committee, the Metropolitan Mosquito Control Board and I Co-Chair Heading Home Hennepin.

My passion is servant leadership which comes from a background in Social Work and a love for the community. I have dedicated my career to uplifting the dignity and worth of all of us with care and compassion. It is my belief that we have a duty to ensure that we all have equal access to participation in all parts of our society and that true power resides with the people.
